Chapter 14

     Tigerheart watched the two cats leave, relief weakening him. It had been too close, almost getting caught like that. And Spiderleg never ruled fair, he could easily have wounded him. Luck favored him.
     Was it really so bad that he waned to see Dovewing just one more time. how did she stand to stay away from him. Every moment, every day he went without seeing her, he couldn't stand. And so easily, she just went through her life, probably not even thinking about him. He wished he could live like her How did she do it?
     Though he refused to admit it to himself, he knew how. He'd seen how she and Bumblestripe just gravitated to each other at Gatherings. They wouldn't leave each other's side no matter what. Someone would ask Bumblestripe to do something, and Dovewing would just pad after him. It frustrated Tigerheart, made him want to go and rip that stupid tom's throat out.
     And now he'd wanted to go and talk to Dovewing once, just once, and Spiderleg and Hollypaw just had to catch him. And now he needed to come up with some excuse for why he was trespassing on their territory. Tigerheart felt like screaming, but he couldn't. Sometimes he felt like killing himself the way Flametail had died, but Dawnpelt managed to convince himself not to.
     Guilt also clouded his reasoning. He never should have said anything to his sister. now Dawnpelt was out at revenge for ThunderClan. And it had been his fault.
